Outside of Natural Resources and Cleantech, Mirabaud Securities provides mostly secondary research. This covers both a number of UK and European specialist sectors, and a more general, and ideas-driven, approach to equity valuation. Analysis of CDS, commodities and other markets also provides an interesting ‘alternative’ source of equity ideas. In addition, Mirabaud offers a bespoke research service that frequently leverages off in-house sector skills.
Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences
Our in-house industry specialist, Nick Turner PhD, publishes regular updates on the pharmaceutical sector through Mirabaud Drug News and specific company notes on the major European stocks. Dr Turner was a scientist at Rhone-Poulenc and Smith Kline Beecham prior to joining the investment world.
Technology
Susan Anthony mainly covers Continental European technology hardware and software, and issues regular update notes and commentary on industry affairs. Kam Bansil also covers the technology arena, but with a bias towards smaller cap UK issues.
Industrials and holding companies
David Blackwood’s main focus is upon Continental European industrials and holding companies. He issues regular reports on these diverse segments of the market.
Consumer products
Mirabaud has in-house expertise in food, beverages, household and personal products, mostly through Julian Lakin and Jonathan Fyfe. The range covers FTSE 100 stocks to larger small caps, with a mix of value ideas and update notes.
Service companies
Through Jonathan Fyfe and Steve Clayton, Mirabaud has specialist knowledge of in UK-listed employment agencies, and publishes regular update notes
General and thematic research
Steve Clayton role is to generate investment and trading ideas in the UK market. He produces stock-specific and thematic research on a very wide range of mid and large caps, highlighting valuation disparities and drivers of performance. These are published under a variety of headings, including Early Morning Thoughts and Early Afternoon Thoughts, and written largely from a buy-side perspective.
Alternative analysis
David Kelly brings different perspectives to equity research, majoring on correlating the movements in Credit Default Swaps, Commodities, and other markets with European stock valuations. Backed by technical analysis, his reports are published daily.
